These days social networking sites like myspace, facebook and orkut are extremely popular not only amongst youngsters but also amongst the elderly for the reasons sighted as dating, networking or building activity partners but the reasons are far beyond these. Once you set up your identity on the Internet, one constantly struggles to improve it by hook or by crook! So an ugly man will put up an image of an actor or write things about himself which might not be true. People might create fake identities for dating purposes. On the other side sometimes, you get to meet old long lost friends on such sites which have settled in different sub continent. For me it is an excellent way to keep in touch with my friends and relatives.

These days there is tremendous craze for mobile ringtones. Gone are the days when the only sound that we associated with a mobile phone was ‘tring tring’. Today, the more trendier your ringtone, the more stylish you are. So why not download a ringtone from a website. A number of such sites have mushroomed which offer such ringtones for free but some of them charge some money too. When i googled mp3 ringtones i got a list of many such good sites. Few of them very nice sites, where you can preview and download ringtones . Download is an easy process. You can either search your ringtone by doing an Edit>Find and then click the download button to do ‘Save Target As’. Or if your site has some kind of collaboration with the network operator, then the ringtone can be downloaded through that mode also.

These days there is a new concept which has emerged of caller tunes and i personally don’t like it at all. IMHO, why should the caller be subjected to some unsolicited song which he or she might not like. But this caller tune concept can be called a baby of mobile ringtones. They have come a long way…remember the monotonic ringtones which i never liked and was so happy when i could get a polyphonic ringtone for personal mobile. Way to go mobile ringtones!!!

Another double murder, this time the place is different, the motive too was different!
Sanjay Mehta, an Indian national employed as an engineer, has been charged with the murder of his wife, 38-year-old Jyoti Mehta, and his nine-year-old stepdaugher Ujalla Dinesh.

Mehta allegedly murdered his wife and stepdaughter at home and then placed the two bodies in a vehicle and took two other family members for a drive to Echo Point lookout at Katoomba, a popular tourist spot in the Blue Mountains about an hour’s drive from Sydney. While his two children took a walk, Mehta threw the bodies off the cliff. Sanjay Mehta told police his wife and step daughter had left home, taking their passports, after an argument.

Jyoti had told her younger sister, who lives in the western suburb of North Parramatta, that her relationship with Mehta “was very strained and that he had recently been physically violent towards her”. It is sad that she knew that her life was in danger and yet could not save herself and her daughter. She could have left the home and taken refuge in some friends place also, but destiny had thought otherwise.

Mehta was arrested Sunday night at 10.15 p.m. from the family house after a walker sighted a female’s body at the bottom of Echo Point lookout at about 2 p.m. Sunday and informed the police.

The bodies were in “a state of decomposition when found”. The bodies have yet to be formally identified.

Mehta, 41, had met Jyoti on the Internet in July 2006 and they were married in May 2007 after she moved to Australia.

According to the police, the wife had approached the Jessie Street Domestic Violence Service in January this year after she was verbally abused by her husband, who had also threatened to kill her or have her deported.

Mehta will remain in custody until his next appearance in court July 21.

The police has arrested Dr Rajesh Talwar, Aarushi’s father for brutally murdering her own daughter. Though there are many loopholes in the theory, the outsider involvement in the double murders is looking like a far fetched thing. It is difficult to digest what the Noida police said. They were hinting at the possibility of honour killing and that’s what it is turning out to be. The dentist father had an affair which the daughter didn’t approve of, the daughter used to discuss the same with the man servant and in the process became physically close to him. That fateful night, the father saw Hemraj and Aarushi in an objectionable position and went ahead and killed both of them. How very disgusting it is! And yes he made it a point to drink before murdering her daughter so that he can gather his guts!! All this is shocking but can be true. Meanwhile, the mother, Nupur Talwar broke her silence after ten days of murder and backs up her husband totally! I mean how shameless it is if the father it is who has committed the murder and she is trying to shield him now. She is holding a press conference, giving interview on the national TV but does not say a word against her husband. What kind of mother she is! And to think of it they conceived a child after five years of marriage. Doesn’t she have any attachment with Aarushi, who was not even fourteen when she was murdered. Well i understand that now the poor child is gone and can’t be brought back and it is practical for the mom to support her husband, but everyone has a conscience, isn’t she feeling a bit guilty… I am eagerly waiting for the day when more evidence comes out and things become more clear. If the father is not guilty, it should be known to one and all. This case is having a very adverse effect on the teenagers and young adults. It is distressing to read the newspaper in which psychiatrists are explaining the ways to calm your child if s/he inquires about this murder case. The children at large should not get a feeling that they are insecure in their own homes.

I had to rub my eyes twice when i heard this news! How can someone become so cruel and insensitive as to murder someone and then chop the body into 300 pieces. What is happening to people’s mentality? Why so much hatred? Why can’t there be some sanity where hatred is concerned? Can’t things be settled amicably…I mean if the girl was fed up with her former lover, can’t she just leave him alone? These questions have my head spinning…Neeraj Grower, the victim was the production manager in a media company working on Shah Rukh Khan’s famous TV show ‘Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tej Hain’. Maria, the girl in question was a south indian heroine and was supposedly in love with Neeraj. Once the relationship became stale, she started going out with another man, this time a lieutenant in navy, Jerome Mathew. Neeraj, supposedly had come to know of Maria’s new relationship and was obviously against it. So on May 6, 2008 the inevitable happened. Maria along with her new boyfriend stabbed Neeraj to death and then both of them cut his body into 300 pieces like a vegetable!!! In my opinion, both Maria and Mathew should not be given any mercy by the law and should be hanged till death. Then only the soul of Neeraj will have some peace and his family will get some justice.

Since last couple of days the news channels in India are flooded by the news of the murder of a fourteen year old Aarushi Talwar. She was the daughter of the a dentist who lived in sector 25 of Noida. I was drawn to this news because i was at one time resident of this sector myself and was amazed to see this level of heinous crime being committed in Noida which is developing by leaps and bounds.

The murder was committed by slitting the throat and it is surprising that the girl’s cries were not heard by her parents who were probably in the next room itself. Initially the police thought that the murder was committed by their servant Hemraj. But everyone was shocked to find Hemraj’s dead body on the terrace of the apartment! Now after much investigations, police has caught hold of Vishnu, a previous servant of talwar family. It is believed that Vishnu wanted to get his job back and had a fight with Hemraj and in a fit of rage murdered him. The theory is that most probably the girl had seen Vishnu and that is the reason he murdered her too! Poor girl lost her life at no fault of hers. I am eagerly waiting to hear what the final findings of the case are. May Aarushi’s soul rest in peace.

Number of lottery scam e-mails have increased for quite some time. Every time I receive such email, I just laugh. There would be emails that say that you’ve won millions of dollars for a lottery you never entered. These jokers at times use the name of a legitimate lottery as part of the scam. If you respond to them, they will ask you to pay some fee or fees to claim your prize. A legitimate lottery does not ask this. Once you have paid the money they will simply disappear with your money and your chance of any type of recovery is essentially zero. One recent example of such Mail from “Coca Cola”:
